Rocky Point

Permit Camp

There are few places on planet earth where a barrier reef meets land.  Two such places are on Northern Ambergris Caye in Belize - Robles Point and two miles further north at Rocky Point.  The area between these two points is reef locked.  You can’t easily get a boat in, there is no large cut or navigable channel.  Perhaps on the CALMEST of calm days you could try to nudge in… ideally in someone else’s boat.

A few properties in a small section between these points back up to navigable water in the Cantena Lagoon/Bacalar Chico National Reserve.   Rocky Point Permit Camp (RPPC) is in this exact stretch.  Our front yard has expansive flats, deeper buckets and a couple miles of fishy water that is rarely fished.  Our backyard is a UNESCO World Heritage site with near endless water to explore.  It’s not an exaggeration to say that our neighborhood is one of the best “put down your morning cup of coffee, walk out the door and wade” flats fisheries in the world.
